About the 2019 line up

Beans on Toast

After more than 12 years in the game, Essex born songwriter Beans on Toast has become something of a cult figure. He’s written and recorded 10 albums, he’s played every bar, club, venue, pub, festival, party and honky tonk you can think of and he’s showing no signs of slowing down, he’s loved every minute of it.

Hayseed Dixie

Hayseed Dixie began one innocent summer day in 2000 when John Wheeler aka Barley Scotch and his pal, dobro and pedal steel player Mike Daly, drank roughly enough whiskey to float a battleship from the Florida Coast over to Portugal and back and decided to play around in John’s East Nashville studio. Having spent the previous few years touring around with assorted country hat-acts, John had assembled a proper pile of recording equipment and also a heroic collection of Bourbon and Scotch.

Mammal Not Fish

Blending Indie Rock with undertones of Funk and Ska, Mammal Not Fish is a fresh new four piece band born from Norwich. Their individual styles blend together and complement each other beautifully to create a unique, crisp and original sound. With funky riffs, driving bass lines, catchy lyrics and rhythms you can’t help dancing to, this is one band you are going to want to see live.

Kaves

4 piece KAVES, featuring lead singer Caitlin Mapes, guitarist Tim Frost, bass player Mia Webster and drummer Matt Dove formed in May 2018. Combining hard rock with ska, hip hop, pop and alternative, KAVES are not easy to pigeonhole, but the bands focus is on songs rather than genres. Influences include Incubus, Deaf Havana, Yonaka, Bring Me The Horizon, Don Broco to name but a few.

Bag of cans

In the beginning the sesh created the Cans and the Bag. Now the Bag was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the Cans, and the Spirit of the sesh was hovering over the Cans. And the sesh said, “Let there be Good Times” and there was Good Times. The sesh saw that the Good Times was Rad, and he separated the Good Times from the Bad Times. The Sesh called the Good Times “Gigs,” and the Bad Times he called “Hangovers.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

Pirate Joe & the Foreign Locals

There’s a storm a brewin’…. And navigating it haphazardly towards a rainbow on the crest of a honey whisky wave is Falmouth’s very own ‘Pirate Joe’. A one man band and a rarity in artistry these days, Joe is the epitome of a musical alchemist, connecting with his audience as a conductor would an orchestra, or a Captain and his loyal crew.

Thy Last Drop

Victorian Murder punk, Vagabond Folk, Carnival punk. Come dance to their tune!

The High Points

The High Points are an original band from Norwich, currently consisting of; Ethan Keens-Soper, Matt Cranswick and Jonathan Cant. A self-proclaimed “indie-funk” band, the genre-twisting group formed in January 2017 and play an eclectic collection of originals.

Niamh

Inspired by the lyricism of Billy Bragg, the poetry of Leonard Cohen and the musical elegance of Nina Simone. “Flammable” was born a poem and came of age as the title track of her 2018 debut album.

Niamh’s passion and acute awareness of life’s inner challenges has enabled her to embrace her lyrics and melodies with a unique and instantly recognisable style.
